The battery and maps are unreal
I did a four-day backpacking trip with GPS tracking on and never worried about charging. The onboard topo maps got me back on trail twice. Training readiness and Body Battery actually changed how I plan workouts. The screen is dull indoors but in sunlight it is perfect.

Incredible tool, not a great smartwatch
For training this thing is unmatched, the metrics are deep and accurate and multi-band GPS nailed my routes through the city. Just know it is not an app machine, notifications are basic and the display is not flashy. Worth it if you train seriously, less so if you want a mini phone.

Both. The Fenix 7 added a touchscreen on top of Garmin's traditional five-button layout, and you can use either, including locking touch during activities.
QIs the Solar model worth the extra cost?
If you spend long days outdoors in sunlight it can meaningfully extend battery life and is worth it. For mostly indoor or short outdoor use, the non-solar model already lasts a long time.
