Best value in gaming
For under $300 plus Game Pass, my kid has hundreds of games and it fits anywhere. It is quiet and quick. You do not miss 4K on a 1080p TV.

Tiny powerhouse, watch storage
Amazing value and so small. The only annoyance is the 512GB fills up fast, so I added an expansion card. For the money it is unbeatable.

From the community
QWill it play games in 4K?
It targets 1440p and upscales to 4K output; native 4K rendering is reserved for the more powerful Series X.
QIs it good for a child's first console?
Yes — it is affordable, compact, quiet, and Game Pass gives a huge, family-friendly library without buying games individually.
Frequently asked
Does it play the same games as the Series X?
Yes — it runs the same library, just at lower resolution and detail (typically 1440p instead of 4K).
Can I use discs?
No — the Series S is all-digital, so games come from the store or Game Pass.
Is 512GB enough storage?
It fills quickly with large modern games; budget for an expansion card or manage installs to stay within space.
