Brilliant, with a few Linux caveats
Most of my library just works thanks to Proton, and the screen is gorgeous. A couple of games with anti-cheat won't run, and demanding titles still chew through the battery. For the price though, it's the best handheld PC I've used.

The OLED screen is a game changer
Coming from the original Deck, the OLED panel and extra battery life make this feel like a new device. Running my Steam backlog on the couch and on flights is fantastic. It's chunky and heavy, but the experience and value are unmatched for a PC handheld.

Yes, the M.2 2230 NVMe SSD is user-replaceable and Valve supports repairs with official parts via iFixit. You can also expand storage simply by adding a microSD card.
QWhat resolution is the screen?
The OLED panel is 1280x800 (800p) at up to 90Hz with HDR. It is a 7.4-inch screen, slightly larger than the original LCD model's 7-inch display.

Is the Steam Deck OLED faster than the original LCD model?
Not meaningfully. The OLED refresh keeps essentially the same gaming performance but adds a better screen, more battery life, faster Wi-Fi, lower weight and quieter cooling. The upgrades are about refinement, not raw speed.
Can I play non-Steam games on it?
Yes. It runs SteamOS, a Linux-based system, but you can install other storefronts like Epic or GOG, use emulators, or even install Windows to broaden compatibility. Anti-cheat in some competitive games can be a limitation.
Does it work docked to a TV?
Yes. With a USB-C dock or the official Steam Deck Dock you can output to a TV or monitor and connect controllers, though it is primarily designed as a handheld.
